crash is a film, audio and light piece examining the Celtic Tiger & 2008 financial crash in Ireland, north and south. With most archives focusing heavily on pre-2000s material, I was fascinated by the lack of available content surrounding the impact of the economic crash in Ireland. Gleaning material & archival news footage from the internet, I interspersed voices between news clippings, replicating muffled, strained conversations I remember my parents having in the living room as a child.

This piece was formed as part of my residency at Digital Art Studios Belfast. The exhibition space was arranged as a 2008 living room with stacks of pre-2008 DVDs & trinkets from my family home.

Within the site-specific installation, each scene cuts from the news being watched on TV to discussions of money problems through audio. I rewired a lamp from my family home and used a relay box to time the lamp to switch on and off.
